In an effort to reduce the potential for COVID-19 to spread to more people via gatherings of people and protect the health and well-being of the animals in our care, our staff and volunteers, as well as our community, the SPCA of Texas is closing our shelters, clinics, mobile adoption and mobile wellness events to the public until further notice. Adopters must visit with an adoption counselor and complete an adoption application. Adoptions are approved based on the best matched home for each pet. We reserve the right to reject an application based on the needs of the pet. Adopters must live in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Adopters must be at least 21 years-old. Adopting from the Houston SPCA is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Adoptions are by appointment only from 9:15 am to 3:10 pm, seven days a week. Please note, if you are interested in the Yorkies recently rescued by cruelty investigations, they will not be available for adoption for several weeks.
Adoption Policy ADOPTION PROCESS: If you are interested in adopting from Second Chance SPCA, please come to our adoption center during business hours. Appointments are not required.
